Book Review: A Discovery of Witches

“A reluctant witch. A 1500-year-old vampire. A mysterious manuscript known as Ashmole 782. The story begins with a discovery of witches…”

Are you hooked yet? Because that’s all it took for me to dive head first in this book. I am also taking this opportunity to thank my friend Meghan who suggested I read this. She’s my book guru and never steers me wrong.

Deborah Harkness has managed to create characters so rich and vivid, you can’t help but feel connected to them. There’s a marvellous mix of history, romance and magic in there. I am keeping this review brief, because my adoration of this book might cause me to spew forth with heaps of spoilers, and we can’t have that; now can we?

I’ll put it very, very simply. If you like the Outlander books this nook is for you. If you loved the Harry Potter series and have been wishing for it’s adult equivalent, this book is for you. If you adore the Twilight series….I’d suggest you keep looking. This is probably not for you.

Click here to go read an excerpt from the book. You can thank us later.
